HEARTFELT CONTENT

Let's switch gears.

I thought I'd touch on music that's dialed down a bit. No breakdowns this week folks.

I wanted to put together a quick handful of music I believe everyone should be listening to. Music that is so good it is my duty as a human being to make sure it has been shared with you. The songs listed below are radically different than that which I normally share.

I love heavy and hardcore music but I have the strongest connection to singer/songwriter, intimate and emotion driven music styles. Not saying hardcore music doesn't posses an intimate or emotional message/subject matter, because it absolutely does, I just connect stronger when the content is in a relaxed atmosphere. Heartache, aspirations and life lessons, for me, translates better with a quivering voice and the tender picking of a guitar.

My love for writing has led me to become a lyrical content snob. Loosely stealing from Thumper, "If you can't say somethin' [of quality], don't say nothin' at all". I enjoy music that stops you in your tracks. Lyrics that cause you sit to down and reflect or flash you back to a time or place in your life. Raw, vulnerable and honest emotion; that's what makes great music.

With that said, not every song below falls exactly into that formula. Of course my Attention Deficit Disordered mind is going to find a way to weasel in something that tip-toes the line of similarity, but not quite the same. Some of these songs are old, some are newer. Some are fast-ish, some are slow. Regardless, please listen, absorb and feel. If there's a song you think I need to hear, please call it out in the comments at the bottom of the page.
